Exam Feedback
Current Challenge
- Limited feedback after exams
SOA Shift
- Candidates who do not pass will receive more detailed score reports with actual score by question part
- Option to get personal written feedback for those coming close to passing (fee applies)
More Feedback
The SOA will provide you with detailed score reports if you do not pass a course, providing your actual score by question part. We will also publish pass marks, so you can see how close you were if you did not pass that course.
Additionally, for a fee, you can receive written feedback on your performance if you do not pass an assessment and are close to passing. We will offer this personalized feedback to help you understand your proficiencies and areas of improvement, so you can be more focused and productive in your studies going forward. More details on this performance feedback option will be shared at a later date.
Assessments
- All assessments are exams and will be three hours in length
- Only two and a half hours of content and exam points will be covered, giving candidates extended time to demonstrate knowledge and understanding of material
- Assessments will continue to be proctored and closed book
- The SOA will take care to avoid major holidays and ensure that no more than one assessment session per year interferes with seasons known for heavy workloads
- Fall 2025 assessment dates will be November 17-21
- 2026 assessments are tentatively planned for March 24–28, July 21–25 and November 17–21
