The Society of Actuaries (SOA) is committed to the education and advancement of actuaries. We have conducted extensive market research and in-depth interviews with candidates and employers and understand the challenges that candidates face. We are evolving the FSA pathway to better meet the needs of candidates, employers and the profession. The FSA pathway enhancements will provide a better candidate learning experience, increase flexibility, while maintaining rigor and ensure greater global relevancy.

The FSA pathway courses and enhancements will be available in November 2025.

FSA designations will remain as robust and well-respected as ever. The enhancements aim to address friction points for candidates and meet the growing market demand for qualified actuaries.

The SOA pathway is about learning as well as testing. The term "course" refers to the complete package: A syllabus that defines what candidates are to know and be able to do, resources that enable candidates to acquire those skills and knowledge, and an exam to verify that the requisite knowledge has been obtained.

We have no planned enhancements to the ASA pathway at this time. There is no impact for ASA candidates.
